Contacts

A contact is a customer or someone interested in buying from you. Threadkite creates contacts for you as people get in touch, matching them by email address and phone number so each person is only in once.

  1. Click Contacts in the menu.
  2. Use Search contacts to search by name, company, email or phone number.
  3. Click a contact to open their page.

A contact’s page shows:

  • their details: name, email address, phone number and picture
  • their Threads, in the inboxes you can see. Owners and admins are also told when there are threads in inboxes they can’t see.
  • their Tasks
  • their companies
  • their Fields, the facts you keep about each contact (see Fields and events)

You see the same details in the panel beside a thread. Click Contact page there to open the full page.

You need a Full seat to change contacts.

  1. Open the thread, or the contact’s page.
  2. In the contact panel, click Edit.
  3. Change their name, email address or phone number, then save.

To fill in a field, click Change under Fields.

The contact panel shows consent for each channel: Agreed, Opted out or Not asked. Click one to change it, for example when a customer tells you on the phone they’re happy to hear about offers. Threadkite keeps a history of every change.

Consent is checked before any marketing is sent, such as a bulk message. Customers who reply STOP to a text, or unsubscribe from an email, are opted out for you.

If a contact asked you to delete their data in the past and later turns up again, Threadkite remembers they asked not to receive marketing, and you can’t opt them in.

Owners and admins can handle a customer’s request for their data:

  • Export their data: from More actions on the contact’s page. Use this when someone asks for a copy of what you hold about them.
  • Delete contact and their data…: from the same menu. This deletes the contact and everything about them, and is also how you act on a request to be forgotten.

What was exported or deleted, and when, is recorded in Settings > Privacy. See Privacy.
