Setting up your business

Threadkite brings every way customers reach you into one inbox. Setting up takes a few minutes, and you can be taking leads by email and from your website before you connect anything else.

  1. Go to the sign-up page and choose how to start:
    • Free trial of Pro: 14 days with everything, no card needed.
    • Free plan: free forever for one person. You can upgrade at any time.
  2. Enter your name, your work email and a password (at least 8 characters). You can also sign up with Google, Microsoft or Apple where they’re offered.
  3. Open the link we email you to verify your address.

Next you’ll see Tell us about your business. Fill in:

  • Business name, as your customers know it.
  • Country. This sets your currency, time zone and how phone numbers are written.
  • Industry.
  • Your site’s name (optional). Leave it blank to use your business name. If you trade from more than one site, name this one the way customers know it and add the others later.
  • Opening hours for Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They start filled in; change them to match yours.
  • Website (optional).

Under How do you want to start? you can still switch between the free trial and the Free plan.

Your opening hours matter. Reply targets only count time while you’re open, out-of-hours replies use them, and the website assistant only tells visitors about sites that have hours.

Home shows a Set-up steps list for owners and admins. Each step links to the page where you do it, and ticks itself off once it’s done:

  1. Verify your email.
  2. Add your opening hours for every location.
  3. Give your inbox email address to a lead provider. See Email.
  4. Reply to your first lead.
  5. Invite your team. See Inviting your team.
  6. Add your catalogue, so each lead shows what they asked about.
  7. Add a contact form to your website. See Contact forms.
  8. Send email from your own domain. See Sending email from your own domain.
  9. Choose a plan. See Billing and plans.

You don’t have to do them in order. If you want to check everything works before giving out your address, use Send a test lead on Home or in Connections > Lead sources.
