Campaign tracking
A campaign is the marketing that brought a lead, such as a Google Ads campaign, an email newsletter or a Facebook lead ad. Knowing it tells you which marketing is working.
How campaigns are recorded
Section titled “How campaigns are recorded”Campaigns are recorded for you when:
- the website script is on your website and a visitor arrives from a tagged link (with
utm_campaign) or an ad, then sends a form or chats with the assistant. See Adding your website. - a lead comes from a Facebook or TikTok lead ad, which carries its campaign
The script also notes the visit’s traffic channel, such as paid search or email, and the page the lead came from.
See a lead’s campaign
Section titled “See a lead’s campaign”The campaign shows on the lead in the thread’s timeline, alongside its source.
Campaign reports
Section titled “Campaign reports”Go to Reports and open:
- Campaigns: leads, outcomes and sales by campaign
- Funnel: from lead to sale, with how many were contacted and how quickly you first replied
- Spend: what you spend on each source by month, so reports can show what your leads cost
Managers and above enter spend on Spend (then Save spend), or import it from a CSV file of up to 1 MB. Spend is shown to people who see every inbox. On Campaigns, choose Enter spend from a campaign’s menu to add its spend.
You can filter every report by campaign and by traffic channel. See Reports.
Use campaigns in automations
Section titled “Use campaigns in automations”Automations can check a lead’s campaign or traffic channel, for example to follow up paid search leads faster. See Building an automation.
