Roles and seats
Everyone in your team has a role and a seat. The role says how much they manage; the seat says how much of Threadkite they use. Which threads they see depends only on the inboxes they’re in. See Inboxes and who sees what.
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including handing the business to someone else and deleting it (Delete this business). A business always has at least one owner. |
| Admin | Everything, including settings, billing and the team. Owners and admins see every inbox. |
| Manager | Works the threads in their inboxes, manages them and the catalogue, and sees reports. Sets up tags, saved replies, automations, contact forms, websites and bulk messages. |
| Staff | Works the threads in their inboxes. |
Some things are for owners and admins only:
- the team, inboxes and who’s in them
- billing
- connecting accounts and setting up calling
- your sending domain and email signature
- API keys, webhooks and apps
- deleting or exporting a contact’s data
- partner access, and Settings > Activity
- closing support tickets
| Seat | What they can do |

| Full | Replies on every channel, owns threads and uses the mobile app. |
| Basic | Reads every thread and contact in their inboxes, adds internal notes and sees reports. Can’t reply or change threads. |
A Basic seat suits someone who needs to keep an eye on things, such as a director or an accountant, without working the inbox. Basic seats cost less than Full seats.
What staff and Basic seats see in Settings
Section titled “What staff and Basic seats see in Settings”People with the Staff role, and anyone on a Basic seat, only see their own settings: Your profile, Notifications, Security, Saved replies and Email signature (to read). Managers, admins and owners also see the business and inbox settings their role allows.
Change someone’s role or seat
Section titled “Change someone’s role or seat”Owners and admins change roles and seats in Settings > Team. Seat changes take effect straight away, and your bill is adjusted. See Inviting your team.
Several businesses
Section titled “Several businesses”You can belong to more than one business, with a different role in each. Switch between them from the name at the top of the menu.
